Floor Sweeper Showdown: Comparing the Top Models

Ever considered what sort of floor sweeper is the best purchase with regard to your home? With the variety of choices on hand, it could possibly be particularly tough to decide only just one. We put some of the best models available through their paces to help make this decision easier.

The Best Floor Sweepers Tested

To kick off our comparison, we tested the below branded floor sweepers: Bissell Shark Swivel Sweeper O-Cedar The popular model from each brand was provided to us for testing. Putting the floor-sweepers Scrubber machine through a series of basic tests in which we gave them different types of messes (crumbs, hair, dust and dirt) to clean up. We even raised and lowered the brush roll to see how easily each sweeper transitioned from tile or wood floors to shag carpetgings. That way, we could track exactly how well all of them perform in real world scenarios.

Comparing the Floor Sweepers

Bissell Sweeper : We enjoyed using the Bissell sweeper, as it did exceed in our tests. But it excelled at grabbing even the tiniest specks of dirt, almost effortlessly. What we realized is the unit moves with complete simplicity and absent of effort on all floor types; tile, wood or carpet. The fact that it was so lightweight is one of the best things about this Bissell sweeper as it truly made taking it from room to room a breeze.

Shark Sweeper- Another good and decent performer from Shark sweepers. It excelled at pet hair and dust, notoriously difficult areas for some other sweepers. The Shark worked fine on all types of flooring, but we found it a tad bit heavier than some other models. It was a bit more burdensome to wield, some may feel because of the extra weight there—-but this also got it done.

Swivel Sweeper The Swivel Sweeper was different because it did not have to be plugged in. We loved that it was easy to move through the house. But the limited battery life was a big road block, especially if you have to clean more than one area. The Commercial rug cleaner Swivel Sweeper was very effective at picking up larger pieces of dirt, but sputtered on smaller crumbs or debris—something to think about when selecting a sweeper.

Best surprises weren`t always good: O-Cedar Sweeper : The big surprise with the Best New Technology for 2010 wasn't how well it worked but that lit took us so long to catch on. Surprisingly, it did a nice job of collecting crumbs! It glided over various types of flooring and was nice and light, so easy to maneuver around the house. Nonetheless, it did have a bit of difficulty when it came to larger debris like hair so for some people this might be a con.

Ranking the Best Sweepers

Once we finished trials on all four sweepers, here are how they stacked up in performance:

Winner — Bissell: It was a very close call between the two, but we rated our switch model first Unserehound's preference for overall victory. It performed well on different types of flooring with this type — picking up burnt crumbs, dog hair, and specks of dirt from our hardwood floors. And it was super lightweight so you could use throughout the house without feeling spent!

Runner-up: Shark --The Shark sweeper finished in second. The new A9 was excellent again for picking up hair (and dust), but this time also did well with different types of surfaces. Although heavier, it was still highly responsive.

Third Place — O-CedarThe O-Cedar sweeper took the win by cleaning up crumbs surprisingly well. While it was light and easy to maneuver, the vacuum did have a bit of trouble with larger debris (like hair), so this is something to keep in mind if you own pets or always deal with hair on your floor.

Other — Fourth Place (tie): Swivel Sweeper: The least expensive offering, and the only cordless one in our test. Though it was great at maneuvering in and around the house, its lack of suction power made it struggle to pick up smaller debris (like cat litter), so we were less impressed with this particular sweeper compared with a couple others.

Conclusion

In the end, we found that Bissell floor sweeper to be overall top performer among all of the other tested sweepers. The Commercial carpet cleaner device operates very well on all surfaces and it has been designed to treat almost any type of dirt. The Shark and O-Cedar sweepers followed, taking second- and third-place honors. The Swivel Sweeper, on the other hand, bombed in those two categories and others. You can now safely decide the perfect one of all floor sweepers. Happy sweeping!
